The first thing we would like to express is that any project that threatens biodiversity and our cultural heritage is something we cannot agree with.
In the official video shared by government authorities and even on Andrés Manuel López Obrador's YouTube page ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uEeiwa2Lwc ), we can see that the most sensitive part of this project has been omitted: the navigation route that passes through important breeding, rearing, and resting areas for the Blue Whale, among other important whales and species in the area.
It is truly alarming to know that the place where thousands of documentaries about marine life have been filmed will be run over by these enormous vessels.

Various organizations have fought tirelessly to protect this area, so rich in biodiversity, because of the environmental value such places provide to all of humanity. This route presents a threat for very specific reasons, such as the following:
- The main cause of death of megafauna in the world and in the area is the collision of vessels with the lives of these beings.
- There are fewer than 1,500 blue whales left in the world.
Whale communication is based primarily on sounds or songs. They depend on this to carry out all their activities, from feeding to raising their calves and migratory patterns.
- Accidents can always happen; an accident or spill of these products would brutally contaminate the area, causing the death of thousands of species.
- These are just a few of the reasons why we oppose this project.
