SCIENCE AND CONSERVATION
KEY SPECIES | SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL | BASELINE | ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
We conduct scientific research to understand marine ecosystems, keystone species, and their relationship with human communities. This work not only guides our conservation strategies but is also available as a service to organizations and projects that require accurate, evidence-based data for decision-making and the design of conservation policies.

Mexican Greater Caribbean Manatee
Socio-environmental study examining the relationship between communities and manatees in the Mexican Greater Caribbean, identifying threats and creating protection tools for the species and habitat.

Deep Ocean
Research focused on Mexico’s deep ocean and seafloor ecosystems to study little-explored habitats, generate key scientific knowledge, and strengthen protection against emerging threats.

Air Quality
Project assessing air quality in Mexico’s coastal and marine ecosystems, generating key data to support environmental protection and long-term conservation.

Sharks and Elasmobranchs
Study using satellite technology to identify shark movements and aggregation zones in the Gulf of California and Mexican Pacific, generating key data for protection and sustainable management.

Baseline Studies and Monitoring
Monitoring and baseline assessment service that evaluates ecosystem conditions over time, identifying environmental impacts and opportunities for protection in projects and protected natural areas.
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
TALKS AND CONFERENCES | ON SITE TOURS | PARTICIPATION IN SCHOOLS | ONLINE SEMINARS | EVENTS

Our environmental education program originated at the Technology Pavilion, the heart of Mares de México. Each year, this space welcomes over 70,000 people who participate in immersive experiences designed to raise awareness about the importance of the ocean and its conservation. The funds raised at the pavilion not only sustain this experience but also support other educational projects throughout the country, bringing knowledge, inspiration, and action to coastal and urban communities that are part of the future of the sea.

Conferences
Our lecture program offers tailor-made talks designed to inspire and raise awareness about the most important issues concerning nature and the sea. Through the personal experiences of our contributors, unique expeditions, and stories from the depths of the ocean, we aim to connect audiences with the realities of marine ecosystems and motivate actions that generate positive change.

Literature

The Manatee in Mexico
Book presenting the experiences, challenges, and achievements of four biologists devoted to studying this emblematic species.

Manatees of the Maya Coast
Book by José Benjamín Morales Vela combining science, personal stories, and local knowledge about manatees along the Maya Coast.

Natural Wealth of Mexico
Photo series by Antonio Pastrana and Lo Hecho en México featuring flora, fauna, and landscapes from across Mexico.

The Beach of Lost Toys
Photobook by Alfredo Blásquez on plastic toys found on Mexican beaches, reflecting on marine pollution and plastic waste.

Treasure in the Reef
Digital comic for students in Bacalar promoting environmental awareness and respect for lagoon biodiversity.

Adopting one of these plush toys isn't just about taking home a souvenir; it's about joining a mission to protect the ocean and its creatures. Each hammerhead shark that comes into your hands represents research, care, and hope for future generations to continue experiencing the magic of the ocean. It's a hug that connects children with nature and reminds them that they, too, can be heroes of the sea.
