Mexico will be one of the countries most affected by deep-sea mining.

Deep-sea mining should be prohibited in our Mining Law.

Activities that threaten the survival of coastal marine ecosystems and the public health of thousands of people. Join the movement and help us gather signatures to stop this activity; let's save the oceans!

Whales or Gas is a campaign created by more than 30 organizations to stop the Saguaro project, which seeks to transport liquefied natural gas through the Gulf of California. This project threatens marine life, especially whales, due to increased noise, the risk of collisions, and spills. The initiative is based on scientific studies and informational materials to raise public awareness about the environmental impact and demand protection for these species.

The initiative is based on scientific studies and informational materials to raise public awareness about the environmental impact and demand protection for these species.

The campaign promotes actions such as collecting signatures, holding public events, building networks of partner schools and businesses, and creating digital content for social media. Its goal is to halt energy projects that damage marine ecosystems and promote decisions that prioritize wildlife over industrial interests. They invite people to sign petitions, participate in activities, and share information to protect the ocean.

The expansion of the international cruise ship pier in Cozumel threatens the Villa Blanca reef, a key ecosystem for the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. This reef is home to endangered species such as elkhorn and brain corals, parrotfish, and hawksbill, loggerhead, and green sea turtles.

Construction and increased maritime traffic could cause irreversible damage to this biodiversity and affect the sustainable tourism on which thousands of families on the island depend. Scientists warn that the impact would be devastating for the ecological and cultural balance of the region.

Our call:
We demand a halt to the pier expansion to safeguard this natural heritage. Protecting the Villa Blanca reef is not just an environmental issue; it's a responsibility to our future.

In La Paz, Baja California Sur, efforts are underway to create the Dos Mares Biosphere Reserve, a project that seeks to protect traditional fishing and the marine ecosystem of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. This initiative, led by local organizations and international partners, proposes a protected area that will benefit both biodiversity and thousands of families who depend on the sea for their livelihoods.
