Mele Zarabia is one of four brothers who, 15 years ago, believed in an idea: developing open-sea tourism in Magdalena Bay. Gabino, Juan, Tavo, and Mele never used their shark fishing permits, and the new pangas that were intended for that purpose ended up being used solely for tourism. Today, Magdalena Bay is a hub for pelagic sightings and a popular name among photographers, adventurers, and nature lovers. The community in San Carlos is thriving. How has the area evolved in these 15 years? Is it on the right track?
